Up
against some of Queensland’s most successful women, Terri Irwin has
taken home the winning gong after being named the 2007 Telstra
Queensland Business Woman of the Year.
After winning the award for 2007 Telstra Queensland Business Women’s Award in the Business Owner Award category, Terri then went on to be awarded the overall business woman title.
The Business Owner Award category is for owners with a 50% or more shares in a business, with a responsibility for key management decision making. It is the first time the director of Australia Zoo has been nominated in the awards, which recognise and celebrate the dedication and commitment of women in business in Queensland and throughout Australia. There were 151 inspirational business women who were also nominated in this prestigious award.
Terri said she is very excited to have been awarded business woman of the year and is happy so many wonderful women have been acknowledged. “It’s such an honour to be recognised by the Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Women in Australia are outstanding achievers and so blessed to live in this lucky country. We have the chance to make our dreams come true and change the world for the better,” Terri said.
In 1955, the Telstra Queensland Business Women’s Awards were introduced and since then, hundreds of women have been acknowledged for their invaluable contribution in Australia’s business sector. The winners were announced at the Sofitel Brisbane at a luncheon. Terri will go on to contest the national awards that will be held in November.
