THE Shay locomotive has been relocated to Ipswich Museum, where it will be assessed for repair and renovation costs.

The Shay locomotive being
loaded for a trip to Ipswich.

The Shay once ran the line between Mapleton and Nambour.

The trip to Ipswich was made by Coast enthusiasts and members of the Mapleton and District Community Association (MADCA).

MADCA?s Charles Thompson said work on
the Shay would be cost-assessed.

Maroochy division one councillor Greg
Rogerson said the project needed about $200,000 in funds to cover the work on the loco and another $150,000 for the construction of a building to house it at the Lilyponds in Mapleton.
