WITH great excitement the 5th Light Horse Regiment Maleny Troop are ready for this year?s sporting state-wide competition day for Light Horse Re-enactment Troops.
This weekend, Jondaryan Woolshed will come alive with the hooves of horses and riders competing in riding and horsemanship skills in action as many troop sections take on the challenge for the Australian Light Horse Memorial Cup.
Maleny?s Troop is putting in a strong attendance with six riding members and 10-support crew travelling to the Downs for the big event. It is thanks to Maleny Supa IGA that the troop can transport the 1? sections of horses for this two day event.
Eight tests of horsemanship and Australian Light Horse skills will put riders and horses of every ability and background to the test. The event is held every few years and gives Light Horse Re-enactment participants and their horses two days of challenges such as tent pegging, beersheba charge, dummy thrust, hurdles, skill at arms, dispatch race obstacle race and rescue race in accordance with Australian Light Horse Association rules and regulations.
Following this big event at Jondaryan, the Maleny Troop will be making the final preparations for participation in Maleny?s Anzac Day celebrations and Caloundra?s dawn service on the same day.
