Interfaith Festival tickets now on sale

TICKETS are now on sale for the National Interfaith Festival to be held at the Maleny Showgrounds from March 10 to 11.    Festival Director Helen Zeckendorf has chosen the Maleny Visitor Information Centre as a ‘one stop shop’ for festival information and ticketing.    “We are delighted to join forces with another part of the community for everyone’s benefit’, she said.    “It’s great for participants because it will be a one stop shop for festival registration, accommodation and other enquiries.”  One of the aims of the festival is to build a community which values and respects people of all religious faiths.    “So the info centre is an ideal ‘first contact’ for people making enquiries and bookings,” said Helen.    “The professionalism and warmth of the volunteers means that we create a sense of a caring community right from the start.”   The program is shaping up to be quite extraordinary, focussing across all major religious traditions.

“We have 2 days of sacred music,”
said Helen, “Including favourites - Tenzin Choegyal, Oscar and Lucinda and Aliki.    Rachael Kohn leads two main panel sessions – one on each day, and religious leaders are flying in from around the country to present.”

Other features of the festival
include art exhibitions, workshops and talks, demonstrations of customs and rituals and delicious international cuisine.    Children will be catered for with various activities and performances such as mime and puppetry.    “It really is a unique event,” said Helen “And an important step towards greater harmony.”

Helen encourages people to
purchase their tickets early.    “Many locals have expressed an interest in attending the festival.    I encourage them to buy their tickets sooner rather than later.    To encourage early bookings, there is an Early Bird Special two day pass for $32 for a limited time.

Group passes are available and
can be used on either day.    Helen said “These are ideal for congregations, community groups and schools and reduce the entry fee even further.    People can come separately or groups can make a fun day of it and travel together from further away.    Another option is to buy a group pass and sell the tickets to your family and friends.”
