Glenview School enjoys fitness day
Written by Administrator
Friday, 03 November 2006
GLENVIEW State School students and parents have confirmed that a healthy diet and regular physical exercise were great lifestyle behaviour.

Over the years Glenview State School has built a culture that values physical activity as a fun thing to do and essential for a healthy lifestyle.

Three students enjoy their nutritious lunch provided
at the Come and Try Day.

On the Come and Try Day
students and parents participated in a balance of typical and non-typical activities usually offered as part of the school curriculum.

This year’s activities
included indigenous dance, mini-golf, volleyball, athletics excellence activities, skipping, tennis and team building.

All participants were also
offered a healthy lunch of nutritious sandwiches, fruit juice, fruit, cheese and fresh milk.   For the first time in 2006, students from another school participated in the day.

Feedback from the
school’s annual Health and Fitness Come and Try Day held on September 8 was overwhelmingly positive with 100 percent of students, parents and staff surveyed requesting the program be offered again next year.

A parent commented: “A
fantastic day.   My children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had the opportunity to experience things they normally wouldn’t have experienced. Thank you”.

A student commented: “It
was brilliant”.

Principal Debe Crotty said
the school plans to expand the day to a two day event next year, with the second day to be a Saturday so there can be a higher level of community participation.
