Businesses in cyclone rescue with a container load of help
Written by Administrator

IT PROBABLY goes without saying that someone from Maleny was going to organise an initiative to help the people of Innisfail following Cyclone Larry.     And sure enough, Maleny Jewellers? Jim and Sandra Goulton have put up their hands.

Jim Goulton, top, and Ross Hopper have a container to fill.   It?s bound for Innisfail. You can drop household items off at Maleny Jewellers to give them a hand.
They have organised a container to be taken to the cyclone ravaged region.    All they have to do now is fill it.

Ross Hopper from Maleny
Dairies and Maleny Container Hire has jumped on board offering the container/s and freight to the railway station for free.

Queensland Rail will
take over from there, transporting the container by rail.   The container will be stationed out the front of Maleny Jewellers in the Riverside Centre as the collection point.

Jim said household goods
were desperately needed.    Top priority was bedding and mattresses and also appliances.   Clothes would also be appreciated.

Ross thought it was such a
good idea he may be doing similar drops at the Coast, if he gets support.

And if Maleny
comes up with more than one container load of goods, Ross is happy to provide another container.

?We?ll fill another one or two
if we get too much,?? he said. Meanwhile, Jim said people around Innisfail were tired, wet and homeless and just wanted to get back to a routine.

?It?s about getting some sort
of regular family life going so people can at least sit around a table and have a meal, instead of hanging out at a soup kitchen or sleeping in a hall,?? he said.

Jim said people should
arrange to transport their own goods to the container.    ?People are welcome to phone me and let me know what they have.

I?m in charge
of making sure things are brought in and stored properly.?

For more information phone
Jim Goulton on 5494 3477.
