Autumn Festival to bring music to the mountains

Friday, 24 March 2006
MALENY Arts Council?s Autumn Music Festival, which will bring international standard entertainment to the Range, heralds a union of local tourism operators and artists. ?Arts and tourism must join forces for the continued benefit of both industries,? said Joan Benson, organiser of the four-event showcase.
Four Classic Events

1.   13 Strings and Striking Thingsat
Montville Village Hall this Sunday at 3pm.

2.   Champagne Classicsat Braeside B&B April 1 at 3pm.  Nicholas Kaye- Smith, Spiros Rantos and Brachi Tilles, will take you on a musical trip through ages and styles.

3.   Coffee Cakes, Classicsat Malcolm?s Maleny Restaurant on April 2 at 10am with Spiros, Brachi, Glenn Murray, Robert Harris and Dorit Herskovits in a program of Viennese Music; and 3pm.    Soprano Eleanor Varnes and Baritone Mark Jowett are joined by  Montville Village Hall on April 2 at4. and;

4.  From Mozart to Menotti at the Bass Brett Holland in a presentation of arias with an interlude by Spiros and Brachi.
?This is the way the future events have to be staged in Maleny because tourism is a growing industry.

?We?ve had cooperation between business and the arts, but the future depends on developing the arts and entertainment with tourism.

?Tourism is a growing industry and the arts is also a growing industry.    There are more professional actors, artist and musicians moving to the Sunshine Coast than ever before - from down south and from overseas.?Joan said Autumn Music Festival audiences were in for a rare treat.    ?The musicians we bring for the Autumn Music Festival are top professionals nationally and internationally.

One of the spotlights will be on
a 12-year-old prodigy from Brisbane, Nicholas Kaye-Smith, who at 12 has taken every possible award he can get.   ?He?s playing at Braeside B&B on Saturday afternoon April 1 at 3pm.    We selected Braeside because it overlooks the Glasshouse Mtns. And acoustically the venue is excellent.

?For the first time this year
we?re partnering with Malcolms of Maleny Restaurant for a wonderful Sunday morning April 2 music performance.   As if classical music, picturesque surrounds, fresh air and delicious food wasn?t enough, Joan said fine wine would be provided by Maleny Mountain Wines.

Tickets are available from Top Notch Business Services, 5494 3677 or Joan Benson 5494 2708.
