THIS Year, Maleny State High School participated in the Australian Defence Forces Leadership and Teamwork Awards.
Being the first year of the awards, it proved to be quite a challenge to decide three recipients from the vast array of worthy students.
| Jake Heading, Meisha Lowe and Samantha Hamilton.
|
Teachers were asked to nominate one person from each of Years 10, 11 and 12 who had demonstrated qualities of forthrightness, commitment, determination, co-operation, responsibility and respect, and who were prepared to take on school leadership positions and participate in team building activities.
The teachers referred to the students’ involvement in leadership activities, personal development programs such as “Building Bridges” and their service as office bearers. It was originally planned to honour the recipients at Presentations Night, but the school did not recieve the prizes until after this event.
On a school assembly, Jake Heading (Year 10), Meisha Lowe (Year 11) and Samantha Hamilton (Year 12) received their certificates and cash awards.
