Next month the Maleny Community Centre and Maleny Supa IGA invite you
to share in celebrating the anniversaries of their buildings.
You will be celebrating in fine style with a black tie dinner featuring a showcase of local performers on Friday November 4. The Community Centre turns 50 and IGA's Universal Providers Building is 100. In 1907 Thomas Dixon donated the community centre land to the Maleny township.
The first building burnt down and was replaced by the current building in 1955. Community Centre president Heather Spring said this was an opportunity to reflect on the generosity of Mr Dixon and Maleny IGA and to recognize the work of Community Centre volunteers. At the same time the event will raise money for the Centre.
"It's an opportunity to say a well deserved thank you to Rob and Sam Outridge who have always generously supported the Community Centre and the community in general,'' said Community Centre Past President, Barbara Nye.
"Of course, its also a major fund raisiing for the Maleny Community Centre," said president Heather Spring. "Our Community Centre is the centre of cultural life and we need to look after it."
The artists have been brought together by Steve McLeish and will be presented by the irrepressible MC Simon Denver. The lineup will include youith performer Andrew Yorkstton, renowned poet Lisa Plucknett, actor Joy Marshall and the sootthing sounds of Sweeet Chilli to name but a few.
Costs is a very reasonable $60 a head. Tanunda Cellars are running a bar and sponsoring champagne and wine.
For further information ring Heather on 5494 2694 or Barbara on 5429 6043.
